El Chalten, the national trekking capital of Argentina
A river on our first hike – the trees are stunning this time of year!
More gorgeous trees along the way.
The cold and very windy view at the end of the hike.

On our way back, the weather is changing.

Right at the start of the day of the second hike, Nick gets creative with a puddle!
The view along the way.

The snowy track on the way up.

The final part of the track up. The person in red coming down gives you some perspective.

Finally, the view from the top.

Do not be fooled by the two beautiful days you see in the hiking photos. Three out of six days were freezing cold, rainy and windy. The wind was so strong it was difficult to walk against and there were times when we were almost blown over. There was ice on the ground in the morning and one day there was sleet. Temperatures were as low as five degrees during some of the days. It is only April!

No I am not drunk, just freezing and trying to walk against the wind!

And here are two shots of El Chalten.
