Chow Bariloche!

Graduating from our Spanish school.

Our apartment for the last 12 nights

We found the apartment on Trip advisor but only stayed in the one bedroom one advertised on the internet for two nights. We were then moved to the cheaper one downstairs for the rest of the time.

Our new friend Morena.

Cerro Campanario

National Geographic once named the view from the top of Cerro Campanario one of the top ten best views on the planet. The sun was shining today so we caught the bus to kilometre 17 and went up the chair lift to see if National Geographic was right.

Beer with a view!

Like father like son!

Planking is so yesterday!

Eating like locals!

We have been enjoying eating like the locals from street vendors. Today it was a hamburgers, the other day it was Choripan!

GNOCCHI DAY

The 29th of every month is Gnocchi Day in Argentina. This date was originally selected because it was typically the day before pay day when people were poor. Gnocchi was a cheap, yet filling meal. In order to attract prosperty they ate the gnocchi with a one peso coin under their plates. When in Rome……!

“Will two 50 centavos work?”

“Oh well it will just have to do!”

A fin de semana en Bariloche

LOCAL BUS RIDE

“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”

Oprah Windfrey

We had our very first ride on a local bus today and are starting to feel like part of the furniture here. Yesterday we purchased the card necessary to travel on the bus and loaded it with 26 pesos (an achievement in itself!) We ventured out to the main bus terminal to research prices and times for the next leg of our trip.

The heating system!

“Viviendo la vida dulce” LIVING THE SWEET LIFE!

Every second or third shop window here is filled with chocolates or something sweet! Argentina must have a really high rate of diabetes!

And this one is for you Leslie Condon……. Pie de limon ice cream!

BOB ESPONJA

We have also been trying to learn some more Spanish by watching Bob Esponja cartoons on television!

THE GREAT SUPERMARKET CHALLENGE!

Find the cheapest bottle of Argentine wine available. Buy it and drink it!

A winner at $1.49!

It was surprisingly drinkable!

OUT AND ABOUT

The weather this weekend has been cold and rainy so we haven’t been able to do anything touristy. We have enjoyed just wandering around and discovering Bariloche.

We met a guy who has offered us a cheap ride to Ushuaia! Do you think it will cope with the 30 hour drive???
