The kindness of strangers!

The kindness of strangers!

‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’
Aesop, The Lion and the Mouse
Greek slave & fable author (620 BC – 560 BC)

One thing that has really struck us about our travels so far is how kind and open people are. We met Maria Elena in El Calafate at a hotel where we stayed for 5 nights back in March. Each night when we returned to the hotel we spent about ten or fifteen minutes talking to her. She has two cats and invited us to meet them. Unfortunately on the day we arranged to do this she locked herself out of her house and it never happened. When we left the hotel we told her we were planning to come back to El Calafate and she kindly invited us to stay in her house. We were initially reluctant to take her up on her offer as we didn’t want to be a burden on her. When we were in Chiloe we were telling Britt about Maria Elena and he told us we had to be very careful not to put our western way of thinking on it and for her it may be the highlight of the year having us stay. Guess where we have been for the last three nights and we loved every minute of it!

We finally got to meet the gorgeous boys!
