We were walking down Union street in Brunswick, five days before we were due to fly out, when Nick received the phone call that made him gasp out loud! I knew it was our traval agent and began to worry something was wrong. She had just received a phone call from Air New Zealand and they wanted to know if we would accept a business class upgrade on a non- direct flight from Auckland because they had overbooked our direct flight to San Francisco. ( including priority check in Melbourne and use of the lounge of Auckland) Our response….HELL YES!

Celi told me to have a glass of champagne as soon as I got on the flight even if it was at 9 in the morning. Thankfully it was 7.30pm when we stepped on board. This one is for you Celi!
I am not sure I am ever going to be able to fly economy again, especially on a long hall flight.
Thank you Air New Zealand. We are very grateful for the upgrade and you have become our favourite Airline of all time! Any chance of another upgrade for the way home????
